Sanna studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and graduated in two majors: jazz-singing and jazz- piano. She has toured in more then 15 countries, among them South-Korea, Thailand, The Azores, Tunesia, Slovenia and China. She recorded six cd’s under her own name and worked with the crème de la crème of the (Dutch) Jazz Scene such as John Engels, Jarmo Hoogendijk, Eric Ineke, Beets Brothers, Ben van den Dungen, Ack van Rooijen, Ruud Jacobs, Wouter Hamel, Cees Slinger and Peter Bernstein (USA). She started her own improvisation method for jazz singers and has been teaching these lessons since 2002 at Conservatory level. Nowadays she teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where she also offers online courses for singers from all over the world. Besides this she also completed the 3-year education for Complete Vocal Technique-teacher in Copenhagen and became an authorized teacher in this technical method in 2009.

SOMETHING ABOUT SANNA
This new trio with Joost Kesselaar on drums, Sven Schuster on bass and Sanna van Vliet on vocals & piano was formed after a concert in 2017 where these musicians felt a musical connection with one another. Sanna, Joost and Sven then decided to work together. Their repertoire is build out of original material by Sanna and Sven.
CHAMBER9
The ensemble consists of 9 musicians, including 2 guitars, jazz vocals, string quartet and rhythm section. The sensuous and elegant combination of ‘modern’ and ‘classical’ string instruments highlights their luscious beauty and warmth in harmonically rich arrangements, supported by a hard swinging rhythm section with on top the vocal power of Sanna van Vliet.
SANNAVAN
SANNAVAN is a solid band that plays jazz-and popclassics with a groovy character. Marius Beets, took the initiative to make fresh and surprising arrangements and formed the musical direction of this band. Together with Marcel Serierse (drums) and Ed Verhoeff (guitar), Sanna created a new bandsound that is energetic and new-fashioned.

Songs and Bows is a group of fine musicians under the musical leadership of Axel Hagen, who wrote colorful arrangements for jazz combo and string quartet.
SANNA VAN VLIET TRIO
With the Sanna van Vliet trio Sanna has performed at many important jazz venues in the Netherlands and recorded two cd’s. The band plays repertoire of Shirley Horn and other great forgotten standards and own compositions of Sanna. In 2010 readers of Jazzism Magazine choose “A Time For Love” as one of the 10 best cd’s of that year.
TEACHING
Sanna has been a teacher since 1999. She is not only a jazz singer, but also a jazz pianist and authorised CVT-teacher and therefor has many things to offer as a teacher. She works on Complete Vocal Technique, building repertoire, making arrangements, accompanying one’s self on piano while singing, improvisation (scat), phrasing and many more topics. She has taught at most Conservatories in the Netherlands as a guest teacher and is a steady teacher at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she gives vocal improvisation lessons, piano accompaniment for singers, arranging for trio. Besides the steady lessons she also offers online improvisation courses to singers from all around the world.
